His job was to make you hate him when he stepped into the ring, but before the ring he was born Roderick George Toombs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada from parents of Scottish descent. Mr. Piper had been a professional wrestler since the age of 15 and, to date, still holds the title of "youngest wrestler in the history of professional wrestling". He went on to win the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship while in his teens. At 14 years of age, Roddy was the fifth-ranked bagpipe player in the world. Mr. Piper was awarded a Black Belt from the world-renowned Judo Gene Label and has held more than 38 professional wrestling titles. His lengthy career brought him to the ring to do battle in over 7,000 professional matches. He found himself jumping onto the silver screen in 1988 with John Carpenter's movie "THEY LIVE", where he famously came to kick ass and chew bubblegum. With more than 70 films under his belt and hundreds of live TV shows, his name is known worldwide.
WWE's Vince McMahon thoughts on Roddy - "... the greatest villain in the history of pro wrestling." Having joined the WWE in 1984, Roddy hosted his own interview segment, Piper’s Pit. Piper’s Pit making Roddy one of the WWE's most talked-about performers. In 1985, he first crossed paths with Hulk Hogan and the rest is history. They became the two biggest box office superstars in the history of the WWE. It was WrestleMania 1, with the main event of Piper and Paul Orndorff teamed against Hogan and Mr. T that put the WWE on the map. Piper, in 2005, was still headlining and this time it was on WrestleMania 21, April 3rd, in Hollywood, when he presented his infamous Piper’s Pit with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
