Samera Entertainment, who manage the talented Director John V. Soto, are proud to announce that his upcoming Sci-Fi thriller, Alpha Gateway, has been selected for the 43rd Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival (“Boston Sci-Fi”), where the film will have its Massachusetts premiere on the 10th of February at the Somerville Theatre. John commented, “I’m truly honored to have my film play at such a landmark Sci Fi festival. I’m also excited that U.S. audiences will be able to enjoy the quality performances of my wonderful Australian cast.” Boston Sci-Fi is an 11-day cinematic event held at the historic Somerville Theatre from Feb. 9 to the 19th. The science fiction festival emphasizes emerging directors with distinct visions from around the globe.

Previously Alpha Gateway has been selected for other festivals including FilmQuest, The Austin Revolution Film Festival, CinefestOz and the Sci-Fi Film Festival held in Australia in November 2017. Alpha Gateway had four major wins at the 2017 Austin Revolution Film Festival, including Best Film, Best Director for John V. Soto and Best Visual Effects along with the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature after the film screened at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.

Slated for a major North American VOD release by Gravitas Ventures, Alpha Gateway stars Jacqueline McKenzie (Deep Blue Sea, The 4400) as a particle physicist who, following the sudden death of her husband, uses a revolutionary machine to travel to a parallel world to find him again, with dire consequences for her family. Director of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures, Josh Spector, commented, “Alpha Gateway is the kind of smart science fiction film that genre and independent filmgoers alike love and we are thrilled to be bringing John’s film to North American audiences in the first quarter of 2018.”

An impressive array of talent stars alongside McKenzie in this keenly anticipated thriller, including Myles Pollard (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Ben Mortley (Lantana), Haley McElhinney (The Babadook), Shannon Berry (Hunters) and upcoming NIDA talent Ryan Panizza.

Sharry Flaherty of Samera Entertainment is co-producing three other exciting projects with John and his company Filmscope Entertainment, including sports action film “The Spartan Will”, supernatural thriller “That Which Haunts Me” and an Action Adventure Sci-Fi, “Marathon”.
